LANDFILLBIOGRAPHY

Landfill was formed in early 1992 by founding members, Todd Phillips, Robert Schimelpfenig, and Steve Schimelpfenig. The band started out as a project to do music in a Godflesh/Ministry sort of style before expanding the sound. The band released it's first tape Face the Insanity in the Summer of 1992. The tape didn't turn out well due to problems with the studio engineers. However, the tape was still released and recieved fair feedback. Later that year, Robert parted as bassist and was replaced by Brian Hopper, who played on Confined Inner Beauty and Extinction is Mandatory. Both of these albums were released through Wild Rags Records. Landfill played several shows throughout the Northwest. Adam Luckey was soon added to Landfill as guitarist to help the band keep up with their heavy live schedule. Brian and Adam eventually broke off from the band to pursue different interests.
.

Steve and Todd remained with Landfill along with Don Anderson, who became their session bassist. Steve and Todd jointly recorded five of the tracks appearing on Assassins. They played a final show in the Summer of 1996, at which time, Steve took complete control of Landfill, moving it into a more electronic, experimental and industrial venture. This new direction can be heard on the four first tracks that make up Assassins. Future material will be expanding this direction of sound. Steve will continue to work on Landfill with the assistance of Robert Schimelpfenig, incorporating session members, if needed. Steve will no longer be mass manufacturing future releases. All future releases will be on Aidan's Fire Label and limited.
